Rap Challenges

The following raps were all created to challenge the writers talent. Each presents a different gimmick which creates a new difficulty in writing a rap. Now, while these aren't songs you'd listen to on a usual basis, it is pretty cool to see rappers challenged to expand their horizons and display their talents as a lyricist. Here are a few examples.

The "fast rap" challenge

This is one of the most well known gimmicks in rap, so much so that some rappers, such as Busta Rhymes, have built their careers on it. These raps are actually very difficult to write. They require the writer to pay attention to how the order and sound of syllables can affect how fast you can say them.

Alphabetical Order Rap

This is another fairly well know one. The rapper goes through each letter of the alphabet, using alliteration to create a very unique sounding rap. Check it out:

Challenging Words Rap

I admit that my inclusion of this one is a bit bias. My friend Matteo, (or "Mat4yo") has created a few raps in which he uses words that others challenged him to use, such as Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch, Hippopotomonstrosesquippedaliophobia and Saippuakivikauppias. Yeah, he rhymes words with those. Check it out:

Backwards Rap

This one is a classic. Destorm released this rap over six years ago. Essentially, he raps a song, but then reverses the line by line and raps it again. The result is a rap with a completely different meaning. It's pretty awesome.
