Ashtin rose to fame when a video of him rap battling went viral. After the success of his mixtape "Kids at Play" he had several opportunities to sign a record deal, but chose not to do so to keep complete creative control of his music. Now, he is just weeks away from the release of his first album.
Besides the two released singles, what the album will contain is mostly a mystery. The only evidence we really have for speculating what we might get comes from an Instagram post from Ashtin's account seven months ago, when he had just begun work on the album, " Album 'Jersey Devil' is under way. Some sad songs. Some angry songs. Maybe a sad love song or two. Maybe some singing. Idk. This has been an emotional project for me so far". This info is a little outdated, and he could have taken the album in a different direction entirely.
The only thing I may be able to provide insight into is the possible collaborations we'll see on the album. Several months ago, a tweet from rapper Sir Skitzo confirmed a collaboration between the two rappers, and we may see that on this album. It also would not be surprising to see Shelby Ouellette, Ashtin's talented girlfriend, singing a chorus or two on the album. I personally hope we'll get another Mat4yo and Ashtin collab. We've seen it before, on Ashtin's debut mixtape "Influences" and on Mat4yo's "Summer Solstice". It was also planned for Ashtin to feature on a song called "Subservia" from Matteo's upcoming album. So though Ashtin's popularity has far surpassed Matteo's, they are still friends and I don't think a collab between the two is out of the question.
